Most body transformation coaching websites leak organic traffic through technical errors, thin content, and missed keyword opportunities they never see. A quarterly SEO audit catches these problems before they compound. But coaches should not be crawling their own sites or digging through Search Console data - that is operations work a trained virtual assistant handles systematically with documented processes and clear reporting.
This SOP walks through a complete SEO audit workflow that a VA runs quarterly, covering technical health, on-page optimization, content gaps, and backlink analysis for body transformation coaching sites.
Why SEO Audits Matter for Body Transformation Coaches
- Traffic protection. Technical issues like broken links, slow page speed, and missing meta tags silently kill rankings. A quarterly audit catches problems before they cost months of lost traffic.
- Competitive edge. Analyzing competitor content and keywords reveals gaps the coach can fill with targeted posts that capture traffic competitors are missing.
- ROI maximization. Every blog post and landing page the coach has already invested in should be earning its keep. Audits identify underperforming pages that need optimization, not replacement.
Tools Your VA Needs
- Google Search Console - performance data, indexing issues, and crawl errors
- Google Analytics (GA4) - traffic patterns, user behavior, and conversion tracking
- Ahrefs or SEMrush - keyword tracking, backlink analysis, and site audit
- Screaming Frog - technical site crawl for broken links, redirects, and meta data
- PageSpeed Insights - Core Web Vitals and page speed scoring
- Google Sheets - audit findings tracker and action item list
- Yoast SEO or RankMath - on-page optimization scoring within WordPress
- Canva - creating visual audit summary reports
Step-by-Step SOP
Step 1: Run the Technical Site Crawl
Open Screaming Frog and crawl the entire website. Export the results and organize findings in a Google Sheet with tabs for: broken links (4xx errors), server errors (5xx), redirect chains (more than 2 hops), pages missing title tags or meta descriptions, duplicate title tags, pages with missing H1 headers, images missing alt text, and pages blocked by robots.txt that should not be. Run each page through PageSpeed Insights and record the mobile and desktop scores. Flag any page scoring below 50 on mobile as a critical fix. Body transformation sites often have heavy before-and-after image galleries that crush page speed without proper compression and lazy loading.
Step 2: Analyze Search Console Performance
Pull 90 days of Search Console data. Export queries, pages, clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position into Google Sheets. Sort pages by impressions descending to find high-visibility pages with low CTR - these need better title tags and meta descriptions. Sort by position to find pages ranking on positions 8-20 - these are the best optimization candidates because small improvements push them onto page 1. Identify any manual actions or security issues in the Search Console dashboard. Check the Index Coverage report for pages with errors or pages excluded from the index that should be included.
Step 3: Evaluate On-Page SEO
Review each of the site's top 20 pages (by traffic) for on-page optimization. Check that each page has: a unique title tag under 60 characters containing the target keyword, a meta description under 160 characters with a clear call to action, one H1 tag with the primary keyword, logical H2 and H3 structure, internal links to at least 2 other relevant pages, an external link to an authoritative source, images with descriptive alt text, and a clear CTA above the fold. Document findings in the audit spreadsheet with a priority column (critical, high, medium, low). According to ACSM guidelines, adults need 150-300 minutes of moderate exercise weekly.
Step 4: Conduct Content Gap Analysis
Export the site's ranking keywords from Ahrefs or SEMrush. Compare against competitor coaching sites to identify keywords they rank for that the coach does not. Group these gaps into content clusters: transformation-specific terms (body recomposition, reverse dieting, metabolic adaptation), audience-specific terms (weight loss after pregnancy, muscle building for beginners over 50), and service-specific terms (online transformation coaching, virtual body transformation program). Prioritize gaps by search volume and business relevance. Feed the top 10-15 opportunities into your blog content management pipeline and feed local-search work through Google Business Profile management.
Step 5: Review Backlink Profile
Pull the site's backlink report from Ahrefs. Identify toxic or spammy links that could trigger a Google penalty and add them to a disavow file if necessary. Count the total referring domains and compare against the top 3 competitors. Identify the coach's most-linked content and note what types of content earn links naturally - this informs future content strategy. Look for unlinked brand mentions using Ahrefs Content Explorer and reach out to request link placement.
Step 6: Compile the Audit Report and Action Plan
Create a summary report with four sections: Technical Fixes (prioritized by severity), On-Page Optimizations (grouped by page), Content Opportunities (ranked by potential traffic), and Backlink Actions (outreach targets and disavow candidates). Assign each action item a priority level and estimated time to complete. Present the report to the coach in a 30-minute review meeting. Transfer approved action items into the project management tool with deadlines. Track completion over the following quarter.
Weekly Cadence
- Quarterly (Weeks 1-2): Execute the full audit following Steps 1-6.
- Weekly (ongoing): Monitor Search Console for crawl errors and indexing issues every Monday. Check keyword position changes every Friday.
- Monthly: Review page speed scores on the top 10 pages and flag regressions.
KPIs to Track
- Technical health score. Percentage of pages with zero critical errors (broken links, missing tags, slow load times). Target 95% or higher.
- Organic traffic trend. Month-over-month change in organic sessions from Google Analytics. Healthy sites show consistent growth or stability.
- Keyword portfolio size. Total number of keywords ranking in positions 1-20. Track growth quarter over quarter.
- Page 1 keywords. Number of keywords ranking in positions 1-10. Each audit should move 3-5 keywords from page 2 to page 1.
- Core Web Vitals pass rate. Percentage of pages passing all three Core Web Vitals metrics (LCP, FID, CLS) in PageSpeed Insights.
